Mari Kussman is a designer and creative director who uses technology to improve process and strategic problem-solving. Mari is the Chief Innovation Officer at New Lab in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, where she identifies key innovation drivers in technology and implements them into actionable strategies. She is the former Creative Director for Nanotronics—the developer of an automated inspection system utilizing Artificial Intelligence—where she worked on human-centered UX and ergonomics for an increasingly automated world. Mari has over a decade of experience in design; she is the cofounder of the fashion tech company Loomia (née The Crated) and has produced collections for the likes of Helmut Lang and Kimberly Ovitz.
Her work and insights into tech and design have been featured in Wired, Fast Company, New York Magazine, Monocle, Engadget, Ozy, Cool Hunting, 3DPrint.com and more. She has held creative tech residencies and fellowships at The School of Visual Arts, Undercurrent and The Brooklyn Fashion Design Accelerator.
