I am a Japanese American, multidisciplinary designer working across physical/digital media, as well as fashion/product design, with a track record of translating industrial and technical complexity into legible, yet unconventional work. I'm the founder of Mizuchi Studio, a creative consultancy out of Seattle, WA.
I studied couture tailoring at Bunka Fashion College in Tokyo after training at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. Today, I'm Global Head of Creative at Newlab, a global venture platform for critical technology startups where I previously held a leadership role on its founding team, and a founding partner at Gestalt Wine Company, an art-driven boutique wine brand out of Napa Valley. I've also both founded and held senior positions at cross-disciplinary startups, moving fluidly between operational, executive, and design leadership within them, with work spanning from high-fashion runway collections to AI-powered inspection systems. My design point of view treats ecological and living systems as central, not incidental, to the work.
My documentary project on intersectional environmentalism, Cycles, won the Best Unscripted and Audience awards at SeriesFest. My work has been featured in Wired, Fast Company, New York Magazine, Monocle, and other publications, and my design leadership has shaped work exhibited at the V&A Museum, New York Fashion Week, Tribeca Film Festival, Coachella and more.
